Cast from award-winning show to give special performance at author’s home town bookshop

Actors from the National Theatre’s award-winning production of The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night Time are to visit Waterstones on Abington Street from 2pm on 27th March to give a dramatic reading from the original bestselling novel by Northampton author Mark Haddon.

At the special bookshop event, cast members from the touring show – which will be at the Royal and Derngate from 24th to 28th March – will read from Haddon’s original book of the same name, and the actors will then conduct a Q&A session with the audience allowing fans to really get under the skin of the novel’s characters.

Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Vintage £7.99) was originally published in 2003. It was the winner of more than seventeen literary awards, including prizes in Japan, Holland and Italy as well as the Whitbread Book of the Year Award in the UK in 2004. Adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens, the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production won 7 Olivier Awards including Best Play in 2013.

David Payne, Event Manager at Waterstones Northampton says “Our booksellers and customers loved Mark Haddon’s original book, so when the opportunity came up to work with the cast of the excellent theatre production we jumped at the chance. This special reading from the National Theatre cast will really bring the original novel to life and give fans of the book the chance to engage with the text and characters in a unique way.”
