A week of community activities are planned in St James at the beginning of June, to bring people together and help clean up the area.
The activities, which have been organised by the Northampton Community Safety Partnership, begins on Monday, 4 June and includes litter picks, information days, painting and gardening.
A jammed packed family fun day, brings the week to a close on Saturday, 9 June at Victoria Park. During the fun day, which takes place between 10am and 4pm, residents will be able to take part in the Great St James Cake Off and play in the Walter Tull Memorial Football Match.
Registration for the Cake Off and football match opens at 10am and residents are encourage to get involved the voting of the baking competition, which will take place between 12pm and 1.30pm.
In addition, there will be lots of activities for children to enjoy, such as face painting, a petting zoo, a bouncy castle, a mini Olympics, and not forgetting free ice cream!
Cllr Anna King, Cabinet member for community engagement and safety, said: “We are looking forward to working with communities in St James this June to help improve the local area and to advise residents on how to keep themselves safe.
“There are lots of great activities taking place during the week, which are open to residents of all ages, so we encourage people to come along and get involved.”
