A spa day is the ultimate treat. Be it a special occasion or simply because you just need to switch off, spending the day in the sauna and having a pamper is great for your well-being. Ragdale Hall in Melton Mowbray (just outside of the Northamptonshire border) is THE most special location to relax in style.
What can you do at Ragdale?
Ragdale Hall sells itself as an all-inclusive spa like no other. It’s clear to see why. The guests are there for the experience, not just the stay. You can experience the spa for the day or stay the night where a full hotel option is available.
Ragdale provides spa days that run from 9am-6pm which means you get the full experience. It’s a large facility with full dining facilities, multiple lounge areas, spa area and beauty therapy treatment rooms.
What Northampton Life experienced…
When you arrive at Ragdale you’re greeted not only by the wonderful historic building and beautiful grounds but welcomed by the wonderful warming hosts. There’s no hectic form filling but a meet and greet at the cafe by a receptionist who personally sits down to show you the map and your itinerary for the day. A drink and healthy fruit shot comes complimentary which is always welcomed after a drive to the hall.
Once you are settled in, it’s time to unwind. The heat and ice experiences within the spa are vast, clean and stylish. The spa wasn’t too busy even on a Saturday and every experience was the right temperature.
One of the most relaxing rooms to try was the silent candle pool which allowed you to float in a dark room. It was quite mesmerising how your mind switched off and your body felt weightless. You’ll quickly forget what day it is once you switch off in the spa.
There are two pools, one outside (don’t worry it’s very much heated) and a second inside that is bigger for lengths and full swimming.
A full stomach!
As part of your day you will be treated to lunch in the dining room. This includes a wonderful table service. It was at this time that we noticed how attentive and positive the staff were. Everyone looked like they wanted to be working there and put effort into providing a wonderful service to all of their customers.
We had a freshly cooked starter and then it was onto the main buffet. This was no stodgy buffet but a fresh, inspired array of salads, pastas and dishes that had come out of a five star kitchen. Not only can you have dessert but coffee and teas are available in the cafe after lunch, again complimentary. What a treat it was to be looked after so thoughtfully at every step.
Just after lunch we made sure to visit the newly opened Rooftop pool! This is one of their best selling points and it’s quite something. You can see amazing countryside views for miles, the jets and water are like a hot bath and it was such a luxury to be so high up. Who needs a European get away after all?
Spa, service and a snooze…
Onto our treatments and we went over to the second side of the building. There was a relaxing waiting area which uniquely had a sign saying, no need to check in for your treatments. The staff had already been designated to you and came to collect, a personal touch everywhere it seemed.
As part of the spa day, a ‘Blissful Face and Back Treatment’ was included which involved a relaxing back massage and a Decleor facial, with products suited to your skin type. This was seriously relaxing (to the point where we may or may not have fallen asleep). The beauticians have a busy day with the clients coming in yet you weren’t treated as ‘another of the day’ but looked after.
There was still time to enjoy the cafe for a slice of cake, one last dip in the pool before we begrudgingly headed home. There wasn’t anything more Ragdale could have done, they covered it all. It was a wonderful experience and would be the perfect hen-do experience, girlie day trip or place to unwind with your partner.
