Titchmarsh based pub, The Wheatsheaf, has won the award for Pub of the year 2018. The award, which is sponsored by our magazine sponsors, Jackson Grundy Estate agents and award sponsors Franks Hamburger House & Sterling Stock Auditors.
The Pub award found us all over the county with nominees from all types of towns and villages. We found pubs that served great food, a wonderful pint, a cosy atmosphere or even a community hub.
The Wheatsheaf, which is based in the centre of Titchmarsh village, just off the A14/A45 roundabout and along the A605, is a new pub in the area. Recently taken over by The Proper Pub Co Midlands, this pub has grown in strength and provided a wonderful community pub.
Emma Miller of The Wheatsheaf said: “We’re over the moon, it means so much that our locals voted for us. We are truly humbled and at this point we would like to thank the staff and the fantastic locals that make The Wheatsheaf!”
When presenting the award to the pub, locals came to visit the certificate hand over and celebrate the success. The local villagers commented on how when the pub opened, it gave them a place to make their own and come to not only for a drink but to celebrate Christmas, birthdays and events.
The pub holds weekly event nights such as Pie Night, Quiz night, gin offers, country themed menus and summer events too with a fantastic beer garden.
