Village Of The Week: Castle Ashby

Castle Ashby is best know for it’s ancestral home of the 7th Marquess of Northampton. The civil parish village, based in rural Northamptonshire, was originally created to service the needs of the Castle Ashby House. The village has one small pub-hotel, recently renamed as the Castle Ashby Hotel (previously The Falcon). This is undergoing a refurbishment to create a new restaurant and hotel.

The Castle Ashby Gardens!

The gardens, Orangery and Arboretum are open all year round are a beautiful way to get to the outdoors whilst exploring a beautifully maintained estate. The house isn’t open to the public but the gardens alone are fascinating.

There is a full experience available with children’s play area, cafe, plant centre and gift shop.

During winter, adult admission is £5 per person. Due to reduced facilities over the winter, this is a pay & display system with the tea room and facilities being closed. Worry not, there are plenty cafe’s nearby.

The Rural Shopping Yards

After a meander around the gardens, why not head on down to the Rural Shopping Yard. Here you will find a great selection of shops, cafes and businesses.

There is the Deli @ Castle Ashby, Rags Boutique, Tredders Quality Footwear, Limeblue, The Buttery, Bella Donna, Eggshell Gallery, Terrigena and The Little Gernaium

This is a fantastic way to shop local, pick up a beautiful gift or product and grab a bite to eat with the family.

You will be sure to find a fantastic assortment of cafes and gift shops in this village.
