Cransley Hospice Trust are celebrating a remarkable start to the year, made possible by the incredible generosity and spirit of the local community, following the outstanding success of their Community Christmas Tree Recycling initiative.
This year, thanks to the kindness of residents who registered their trees, left donations and spread the word, alongside the tireless efforts of volunteers and local businesses, over 1,700 real Christmas trees were collected and recycled, raising an amazing £27,300 for the charity.
That extraordinary total is enough to fund 24-hour hospice care for a patient in Cransley Hospice’s in-patient unit for 31 days, that’s equivalent to the whole of January! It means comfort, compassion and support for patients and their families when they need it most, and truly helps make every moment matter.
Over 100 volunteers generously gave their time across the three-day collection period from 9th–11th January 2026, coming together from across North Northamptonshire with one shared purpose: to support their local hospice. The initiative was also made possible by the backing of local businesses, with headline sponsorship from Yusen Logistics and valued support from Bosworths Garden Centre, GXO Logistics, RS Group, Ise Garden Centre and many more!
Once again, the incredible Northants 4×4 Emergency Response Team played a vital role, working tirelessly to ensure no tree was missed. In recognition of their indispensable support, they will receive 10% of all funds raised after costs, helping them to continue their own vital work in the community.
Thanks to the generous support of Brett Gavin Ltd and Sebs Trees, this year’s Christmas trees were sustainably recycled and repurposed for the local community, bringing new life to spaces such as Hanwood Park in Barton Seagrave and Watermeadow Park in Nene Valley.

It was truly special to see people who had never met before come together with such enthusiasm and kindness. Even better, they’re already asking to come back next year and we can’t wait to welcome them.”
