A specialist Pilates studio has opened in Northamptonshire, aiming to become the go-to destination for expert and classical coaching in the county.
Diana Alcalá and Amna Yusuf have thrown open the doors to TRES Pilates, in Higham Ferrers, today (October 7), which is believed to be the only dedicated studio in the area equipped with traditional Legacy equipment.
The pair united together in business after coach Diana helped Amna through an injury three years ago and, since then, they have both become driven by the same mission: to help more women feel stronger through everyday movement.
Now, their dream studio is home to a full suite of authentic Pilates apparatus – including reformer, matt and chair equipment – helping people of all abilities build strength, improve flexibility and enhance balance.
The boutique studio, in Westfields Avenue, is dedicated to classes of six people to make sure each client receives tailored coaching that remains aligned to classical Pilates practice.
Clients will be taught by lead instructor Diana who has been a specialist Pilates coach since 2015, formally training in Argentina and India, before building up a client portfolio across Canada, France, Mexico and the UK.
She said: “I’ve taught hundreds of women over the past decade, and trained with some of the best teachers around the world, and I’m passionate about bringing that experience to Northamptonshire.
“I believe there’s a gap in the market for authentic, classical Pilates teaching, and I want to create a go-to destination where women can access expert coaching, specialist equipment and truly understand the method.
“There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing clients say Pilates has improved their posture, rebuilt their confidence and helped them live better lives.”
Before opening TRES Pilates in Higham Ferrers, the pair occupied another studio for a short while but they knew they wanted to put their own mark on a space that felt authentic to them.
Amna said: “When I met Diana three years ago, I was struggling with an injury and I was suffering from years of poor posture. After attending Diana’s classes, I quickly became Pilates obsessed and, since then, we’ve been inspired to support more women to feel better in their bodies while improving mental health and making each practice feel restorative.
“We really want people to understand that this isn’t just another gym. We’re passionate about Pilates and about teaching it properly in a specialist space.
“We’ve put a lot of love into investing in the right equipment and in creating a studio where women can learn from an experienced teacher, feel comfortable and really get to know the method.”
Diana and Amna will be hosting their first open day on Saturday, October 17 from 10am until 12 noon.
Members of the public can try a full Pilates experience for free by signing up to a 20 minute taster session on TRES Pilates website.
