Whittlebury Park in Northamptonshire has partnered with The Amethyst Trust, to train their spa therapists in adapting treatments to clients who have either experienced or are in treatment for cancer.
Eight therapists at its award-winning spa have undergone specialist training provided by The Amethyst Trust, giving them the knowledge and practical skills to tailor treatments, helping more guests enjoy the comfort, relaxation, and wellbeing that spa experiences can provide.
The most recent training took place earlier this year, with Whittlebury Spa remaining actively registered with the Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care (SATCC) until April 2027, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards in cancer-informed touch therapy.
With around one in two people in the UK expected to receive a cancer diagnosis during their lifetime, according to Cancer Research UK, ensuring spa experiences are inclusive has never been more important. While spa treatments are not intended to treat cancer, appropriately adapted therapies can provide valuable physical comfort, emotional reassurance and relaxation for many people living with or beyond the disease.
The specialist training equips therapists to understand when treatments can be safely adapted, as well as when they should be modified, postponed, or avoided, allowing guests to receive care that is both safe and personalised.
